It’s not a priority…
“Instead of saying ” I don’t have time” try
saying “it’s not a priority,” and see how
that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly
adequate explanation. I have time to iron
my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other
things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to
edit your resume, sweetie, because it’s not
a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor
because my health is not a priority.” If
these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the
point. Changing our language reminds us
that time is a choice. If we don’t like how
we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently.”
~Wall Street Journal
So many people use the excuse
” I don’t have time.”
When what they really mean is
that they just don’t want to do some thing.
It sounds better to them to make a
politically accepted excuse
rather than exploring the possibility
of offending someone else by telling them
People get in the subtle habit of “People Pleasing”
and they forget that they even have a solid inner “truth” to uphold.
Everyone has the same 24 hours a day at their disposal.
And how you spend that 24 hours is up to you,
It becomes a question of integrity rather than obligation
or excuse when you realize that time is a choice,
and take responsibility for the honesty of your choices.
