Has LIFE got you a little frazzled?
Maybe it is time to take a little TIME for yourself. We go and go and try to get more and more done all the time. We care for this person and help that person, and then we take care of our family’s needs, only to find that we are on the edge of burnout ourselves. At the end of the day we crash into bed falling fastly asleep. Never once wondering what we could do differently. We just are what we are… priorities include everyone else. The more we can do for someone else, the better we feel. We just have to get it all done. Day after day. We have lists and organizers and more lists and sticky notes, and phone reminders, and calendars, and voice reminders… and personal assistants, and appointment reminder texts.
And what abut commitments? Oh boy. The kids have so much going on. There is baseball practice every night, and volleyball practice once a week, swimming lessons on Friday, ballet three times a week, guitar lessons once a week on Wednesday, and homework all the time. It is so much easier and faster now that we can just Google things instead of looking through those old musty encyclopedias. Wow that used to take up so much time. How did people ever live like that? Reading and writing everything out in cursive. It must have taken them forever to get things done.
Imagine a life like that.
What if you had a day off? What would you do?
Can you take a few seconds to just try to imagine having a day off?
Think about what you would do if you had a whole day all to yourself. You could go anywhere or do anything you wanted to do . With anyone you wanted to be with (now that’s just day dreaming – right?)
Ok ~ back to possible reality…
So you have it all figured out that you can actually squeeze a day out of your busy life and schedule for yourself. Now what are you going to do with it?
How about taking a few minutes to think about what would make you happy. Remember some of your previous days when you were care free to do the things that you liked doing. Back when you didn’t have so many responsibilities and obligations.
What kinds of things really made or “let” you feel light and care free? Perhaps it was walking on the beach somewhere or putting your feet in the sand.
Maybe just sitting down to look at the ocean waves for a little while, sticking your bare toes in the sand, squishing them around, wiggling them down into the sand, getting grounded. Feeling at peace with life. Feeling free.
Wouldn’t that be a wonderful day off? There are lots of ways to feel grounded. What ever you do, take time to feel good. Maybe just drink a cup of your favorite hot tea and relax, or call an old friend and reconnect.
