Happy this moment.
We all inherently want to be understood, but the truth is there will be those who stumble into our lives and just camp out for awhile.
This often invites misunderstanding, confusion and dashed expectation. We find out rather painfully that we have shared our most intimate self with a stranger, someone who no matter what they say just cannot be where we are.
So what do we do when we feel a betrayal of our being? Love them where they are. Set them free to learn their lessons. Be grateful for what you learned about yourself because of them. Give them the understanding you did not receive and wish them well as you move on.
The most important lesson is knowing and loving yourself. Remember, too, it is an amazing gift to be with those who are compatible with us, who share commonality, who don’t need explanations, who love us because and in spite of who we are.
These folks are rare. Bless them for being part of your journey. Tell them how much they mean to you. We learn from all those we meet…the friends and the “want to be” friends who have limited capacity.
Love yourself enough to invite in and honor those who share in your joys, who love you for who you are. Release with compassion those who can’t, don’t or won’t value you for who you are. Above all be your own light in this world. Love as you want to be loved.
Have a blessed day. Jody Doty ©2018
