“Let someone love you just the way you
are — as flawed as you might be, as
unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as
unaccomplished as you think you are. To
believe that you must hide all the parts of
you that are broken, out of fear that
someone else is incapable of loving what is
less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight
is incapable of entering a broken window
and illuminating a dark room.”
This is an amazing train of thought.
For someone to love you just as you are is everyone’s most intimate dream.
Unfortunately, most people only love someone for what they can get from that other person, so it becomes necessary to hide your innermost self for self protection.
Sad but true.
So many people say they love you and that they will love you forever,
but how long does that last? Until they find another pretty face to impress, or you run out of money and quit feeding their face and ultimately their fragile ego.
All be it that there are those who really do love unconditionally, and it is so refreshing that it is a possibility in this world, but don’t be naive believing that
everyone is who they say they are
and that they will accept you and all your imperfect flaws.
Mainly because they cannot accept themselves with their own flaws.
Interesting plot twist. Right?
But another realistic truth.
It’s so much better to learn to love ourself first
and then we are capable of loving others just as they are…
